celebrating the Cinco de Mayo

Yes, I know the arguments: the Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 - something that led to the rise of General Diaz, which was ultimately a very bad thing indeed.  And it's become an occasion for the circulation of grotesquely caricatured Mexican stereotypes within the US, something that involves drinking too many margaritas and wearing sombreros.  But all the same ... these kids seemed very glad to be having an outing to campus today - their teacher was trying to get them to find the Mexican flag that hangs with so many others outside VKC.   And even if a red and white spotted jacket and a Hello Kitty lunchbox isn't exactly traditional Mexican wear, the whole lot of them look adorable.
