The wisteria is out all over campus, as are tents. It must be time for Commencement. I have a very ambiguous relationship to the end of this academic year, since it means that my protracted (and profitable) leave is just about over - and yet it's impossible not to feel that sense of elation that comes with this season. It's also strange how it feels as though we give up the campus to students and their families as at no other time of the year - which is only right, but at the same time it's easy to have a sense of being a visitor on one's own territory.
