sunset, front and back

Quite possibly the best sunset of the summer so far - so even though this wasn't at all the picture(s) that I'd intended to post, it was hard to resist sharing it in all its golden wildness.  What you can't see here are the tiny flashes of summer lightening close to the horizon, and the thin sliver of the new moon - although that tiny silver dot, near the top of the second image - more to the right than the left - that's no speck of dust on the lens, but the sunlight catching a very, very high airplane (most likely on its way to Chicago from California - at least, that's always when I crane my head to get a glimpse of our house from the air).
