down the street

Given this neighborhood, it's amazing that there aren't more WGA signs festooning people's front gardens: there's a screen writer next door, another across the street, another next door but one up the street, this one - evidently - down the street, and probably a whole lot more besides.  And yes, most of these you would either have heard of, or you'd know the shows they'd written for.  

But also, down the street - one of this year's impressive shows of roses.  It's a slower business than it should be, going for walks round here - we keep stopping to smell them, or at least to see if they have a scent (and today we were also stopped dead in our tracks, too, by a magnificent riot of honseysuckle).
