Back safely! Here's the view from my room at La Posada this morning, and then the walk to the car;
a crow, at a rest stop on I-40, approaching Barstow - the temperature was 101.
And here I'm reunited with Moth (not pictured; probably looking for food); Alice; and our one and only shoulder cat, looking surprisingly baleful.
It was a surprisingly easy drive, despite a moment of drama just before that rest stop, when a cement truck just in front of me blew a tire (with a very loud bang) - and swerved around in a thick cloud of cream colored dust; and then an inexplicable stop on the 210: inexplicable, that is, until eventually one got to the point where a truck had shed a large load of hay bales. It's good to be back!
These are wonderful pictures of the journey--and a delightful portrait of Alice and over-the-shoulder scarf that is Gramsci!
ReplyDeleteHe's a very heavy scarf. But a beautifully striped one.
