bzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Here's a bee, very hard at work, in our Meyer lemon tree. The blossoms smell wonderful, too.  I hope she can smell them - bees have an acute sense of smell, but I've no idea whether certain smells are linked to pleasure, or just utility.  On the other hand, bees can't hear, at all, so although I may be aware of a faint bzzzzzzz made by those wings, one bee isn't able to locate another one in this way - communication is by dancing, and other wiggling signals.  I don't think that the bee information that I've accumulated this last month is exactly useful - that is, useful to what I'll be writing about bees, and hives - but I've learned a lot.
