some garden prettiness

Some of the grasses that were planted last fall have done exactly what they were meant to do, and have burst into shimmering feathery cascades - they really are spectacular.  And for all there was supposedly going to be a heatwave this weekend, it's actually been perfect warm weather for sitting outside and enjoying them.

And then there's the Western Swallowtail butterfly (in a brown and yellow get-up, which when one thinks about it closely is ominously like the UPS-uniform color of the Padres).  It's the largest butterfly in North America, and is truly enjoying the plumbago.
