Here is Ben, displaying a bowl that he's just unpeeled from its wrapping paper at his birthday party (not, alas, the gift that we gave him - though had we come across such a beautiful object, it might have been hard to wrap it up and let it go. On the other hand, I can't quite see what this has to do with his birthday theme of "new and olde [sic] technologies"). What is quite curious about it is how Japanese this looks - a big iconic orange sun, and then Ben himself looks (white shirt, mounds of protective paper) as though he's just stepped out of a martial arts class.Ah, I do like taking portraits ...
