When I left the house this morning, it was unmistakably snowing: huge wet flakes of the stuff, soaking into the lilac and, one hopes, into the ground. Along I 25 into town, the visibility was, once again, questionable, but drivable: the temperatures were (just) above freezing. Judging by this truck, it had seriously settled, higher up.
By the time I was in Albuquerque, it was post storm.
Back in LA: chilly, drizzling May grey.
Why, you might wonder, did I drive into Santa Fe at all this morning, given the weather? I had supplies to pick up to bring home: bread and pastries from Sage; coffee beans from Ohori's. Waiting for them at the counter ... let's just say that I never thought I would see anything bearing the words "caramelized onion" that would fail to tempt me (or even "caramel" - yes, I had some extraordinarily good duck-fat caramel ice cream when out for dinner on Sunday). But even I passed on this. There are a handful of reviews on line: they are ... mixed.

I'm glad you made it back to LA in one piece! Agreed: onion IN chocolate is pretty out there!
ReplyDeleteI just ... couldn't.
