deterrent

I've been meaning to put up my Bird Deterrents ever since I got here - and today I started.  Sitting at my desk this morning, a large dove went thudding into the window, and although it appeared to fly away unharmed (although presumably with a terrible headache), I went to find my shiny metallic hanging owl silhouettes (with bells at the bottom).  My first attempt - to hang one outside - didn't go well: fifteen minutes of the bells tapping against the glass, and then the wind blew it down.  So it's now taped up inside.  We'll see.  But attempting to record this - photographing the silhouette of something shiny through a semi-opaque blind sets up a number of unresolved challenges ...
