A magnificent array of penstemon in a neighbor's ditch alongside the road. We're hoping that some of our penstemon plants in the back yard with flower soon, although I have my doubts - I think they, like so many other things that we're waiting on - especially sunflowers! - will burst into blossom a day or so after we leave ... I know the light here might have been even more spectacular if I'd waited a little, but as ever, with thunderclouds starting to mass over the Galisteo Basin, one doesn't want to be hanging around too long in case lightning starts to happen ...
