the warring flags of Eldorado

We took a new walking route today - we'd taken Alice's car into Eldorado Auto Detail (who did a superb job - it is now gleaming like never before), and decided to walk home (just over a mile and a half) - and then back again when it was time to collect it.  So we went down Juego Road.  On the left, the Stars and Stripes; another flag saying Joe Biden Sucks (which is rather unimaginative); and a third one - at first a bit more opaque - says Come and Take It, with a Lone Star, and a cannon barrel.  This - it turns out, and I'm sure the Texans among you know this perfectly well - was first flown at the Battle of Gonzales, in 1835 - the first land battle of the Texan Revolution against Mexico.  So I guess the house's occupants are not Native New Mexicans.

Across the road - three more flags.  The Stars and Stripes, again; a flag saying Hate Has No Place Here - and, quite wonderfully, a red elephant on a black ground, with the elephant wearing a hammer and sickle, and the wording reading Party of Traitors.

This is a spectacular stand-off ...
