my mantra

This might look like a non-too-expert piece of Photoshop lettering, but if you do, indeed, take time to look, you'll see that this exhortation is carved into the surface of a small boulder.  It's more obvious in bright afternoon light, but it seems true to the message that one should have to spend a little bit of time puzzling this out.  This lettered rock is positioned at the garden gate of the O'Keeffe Research Center: I take it as a daily reminder to slow down, not to have my head in a book/notes/a flickering screen all the time, and, well, look.  For years, of course, that's also been part of the rationale behind this blog.
