... It's been a day of garage-squeezing. When we bought this house - spacious in very many ways - we were warned about the garage (indeed, we were led to believe that a previous offer fell through because of the problem of getting a car into the garage. It's not so much a problem as - well, there's a big ledge on the sidewalk (to stop rainwater coming round the bend and then spilling straight into it), so you have to be slow and careful, and then what was probably a good size for a car in 1929 is a little tight, in terms of length, now. But - after much tidying this last week - my own car is snugly packed away tonight, ready for City Sewer Workers to start work at 7 a.m. tomorrow - they have put up no parking signs all down the street.
