A good sign to see when driving into LAX - even if I'm heading to LHR, and even if my thoughts about NM at the moment are full of concern for the wildfires and their repercussions and aftermaths. The perimeter of the big fire would currently stretch from Santa Fe to Las Vegas ... Nevada. Today's big worry are the huge, spectacular pyrocumulus clouds, because at some point these collapse with a windstorm that drops cinders in all directions. It's heartbreaking, and scary, watching all the news on Twitter. Here's not a fire map, but a map of the whole country, showing who's giving help.
